Create a habit of checking & replacing your air filter

Visually inspect indoor and outdoor section of your system and check for signs of water, burnt smell or marks, duct tape or air sealant that could be falling of

Hose off condensing unit at least three times during summer to clean coil's finns

Keep heavy foliage away from the unit (unit needs to suck air from sides and discharge it from the top)

If you have a dog do not let him put his leg on the unit or it won't be long before you need a new unit.
